New City Strategies to Alleviate Poverty

This Oct. 18th, 2012, audio conference highlighted how Providence, R.I. is carrying forward the work of its Poverty, Work and Opportunity Task Force and its recommendations for how the city could build opportunity for its residents. Although the Task Force has completed its work, new strategies are now underway to continue its mission. This audio conference explored these strategies, which include using multiple funding streams to help bring programs to scale and making healthy homes both a housing and health agency priority.  The event was sponsored by Spotlight on Poverty, which CLASP manages, and National League of Cities, Institute for Youth, Education & Families. It’s the second in the three-part “Cities Promote Opportunity” audio conference series.
