Amienata Fatajo is an Emerson Fellow with the Public Benefits Justice team. She is also a fellow in the 32nd class of the Bill Emerson National Hunger Fellowship.
Amienata previously worked with the programs and development team at Common Threads in Miami, where she assisted afterschool nutrition programs for children in grades K-8. In her development work, she helped with strategies targeted on diversifying funders in light of federal changes in nutrition policy. Amienata was also a program delivery intern at CorpsAfrica, working on organizational and peer learning resources.
Amienata earned a B.A in Political Science and Medical Anthropology with a certificate in Health Communications and Marketing from UNC-Chapel Hill. She also worked at the Global Food Research Program at UNC-Chapel Hill as a FERN fellow and research assistant, where she contributed to work related to international school feeding programs and front-of-label packaging and warnings for food and alcohol. Amienata also has experience in international diplomacy, serving as a youth delegate for Senegal at the UN Economic Social Council, working on Sustainable Development Goals, 8, and 11.
