When volatile schedules are compounded by low wages and low incomes, workers can find themselves in need of income supports, such as cash assistance under Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and nutritional assistance under Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program (SNAP). Ironically, the very job scheduling issues that contribute to many workers’ financial insecurity and consequent need for income supports often create obstacles for accessing these essential benefits. For example, keeping agency appointments or meeting work participation requirements can be more challenging for workers balancing unpredictable job schedules and familial responsibilities. In this audio conference, learn from leading experts about challenges workers face and what we can do to address them.
