Postsecondary education has long been a vehicle for economic and social mobility. It has the potential to significantly improve earnings, health and wellbeing, and civic participation. However, college costs, including basic living expenses, have skyrocketed since the Great Recession. HEA can help to make college more accessible and affordable for low-income students, students of color, and immigrants.
