Surjeet Ahluwalia
Surjeet Ahluwalia is CLASP’s Chief Operating Officer. In this role, she manages the organization’s finances, human resources, operations, information technology, and development functions. In addition, she works closely with CLASP’s President and Executive Director and the leadership team in managing the organization’s overall strategy and direction.
Before joining CLASP, Surjeet was appointed by President Biden to be Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy in the U.S. Department of Labor in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration and Management. While there, Surjeet embedded diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility efforts under the Department’s DEIA Strategic Plan with career staff, union partners, and others; supported teams through staff trainings and other initiatives; and messaged key leadership priorities, among other responsibilities.
Prior to her work at the Department of Labor, Surjeet served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief of Staff for the Constitutional Accountability Center, Deputy Chief Operating Officer at The Raben Group, and Executive Director of Asian American LEAD. She brings a wealth of organizational, fiscal, and development experience to her role at CLASP.
Surjeet graduated from the University of Rochester with a B.A. in Political Science and earned an M.P.P. from Harvard Kennedy School.
