Mikayla Slaydon
Mikayla Slaydon is a policy analyst for the Child Care and Early Education and Immigration teams. She brings with her a broad range of experience including data analysis, lived experience, and work on Capitol Hill.
Prior to joining CLASP, Mikayla was a program specialist at Equal Justice Works, where she helped oversee all aspects of the organization’s housing justice fellowship program. She was also a legislative intern in the office of Senator John Hickenlooper, where her role included researching policy issues relating to health, education, labor, and pensions, among other responsibilities.
Mikayla earned a B.S. in Educational Psychology with a concentration in child development and a M.P.A. with a concentration in educational social justice policy from Texas A&M University. During her time at Texas A&M, Mikayla was the head director of the school’s extended student orientation program, which gave her the opportunity to develop program management skills for large audiences. Additionally, she participated as a nonvoting board member of The Reach Project, a nonprofit dedicated to recognizing the invisible workers that power university campuses and how college students can take a bigger role in their community and in the lives of residents who live there.
