“The message from the 2026 midterm election is unequivocal: Voters expect Congress to take immediate action to bring prices down and make life easier,” said Wendy Chun-Hoon, president and executive director at the Center for Law and Social Policy. “Congress should focus their first hours and days next year on reversing harmful cuts to basic needs programs like SNAP and Medicaid, advancing paid leave, child care and health care for all, and guaranteeing good jobs and living wages.”
