Letter to DOL to Hold it Accountable for Providing Workers Access to Paid Sick Days and Paid Leave

Most low-wage workers don’t have paid leave to recover from illness, care for sick family, or bond with a new child. This creates an impossible choice for workers between caring for themselves or their families and going to work. Taking needed time to care or recover can result in lost wages or even lost jobs. That’s why CLASP advocates at the federal and state levels for paid family and medical leave insurance, including the proposed FAMILY Act. The social insurance approach proposed in this policy allows works to earn wages during leave while reducing employers’ financial burden in providing the benefit.
