Comments on Regulation Expanding Expedited Removal

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published a notice on the expansion of expedited removal in the Federal Register on July 23, 2019. The expansion broadly increases the scope of expedited removal, putting more immigrants at risk of fast-track deportation, including those who reside in the interior of the U.S. and have been living in the U.S. for up to two years. CLASP submitted the attached comments in opposition to the expansion on September 23, 2019, strongly urging that DHS halt the expansion of expedited removal and withdraw it.
