Our Children’s Fear: Immigration Policy's Effects on Young Children
Full report | Report summaryExecutive summary in Spanish

This study from CLASP was motivated by widespread reports that children and families are being harmed by the Trump Administration’s immigration policy priorities. We confirmed many of these reports after speaking with 150 early childhood educators and parents in six states: California, Georgia, Illinois, New Mexico, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. Children of immigrants matter to America’s future. Our public policies must be designed to ensure all children are able to achieve their full potential.

This fact sheet overviews the "sensitive locations" policy from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). DHS guidance states that immigration enforcement actions should generally be avoided in locations such as schools, school bus stops, and medical treatment and health care facilities. Our fact sheet is intended for early care and education providers to inform families and early childhood professionals about the policy.

The Department of Homeland Security's "Sensitive Locations" Policies

This is an expanded version of our sensitive locations fact sheet that covers the policies in more depth. It was co-authored by CLASP and National Immigration Law Center as part of the Protecting Immigrant Families campaign.
