It's pretty remarkable when child poverty drops by more than half in a decade. It's even more astonishing when that trend continues during a recession.  That's exactly what happened in the United Kingdom following a 1999 government pledge to cut poverty in half in 10 years. In the U.S., where child poverty has been on the rise since 2000, the storyline is very different.

This audio conference featured two experts on the United Kingdom's successful child poverty reduction efforts.
