This Spotlight on Poverty national audio conference featured Illinois state legislators and experts discussing newly released recommendations from the state's poverty commission.

The recommendations were released on December 9th.  Illinois is one of 10 states in the nation to set a poverty reduction target. The goal is to cut extreme poverty in Illinois in half by 2015. Those who live in extreme poverty have incomes below one half of the official poverty measure. That means a family of four in extreme poverty lives on roughly $11,000 per year.
