Audio Conference: WAGE Act and the Impacts of New Data on Restaurant Workers' Jobs for Paid Sick Days
February 14, 2011
Join Congresswoman Donna Edwards, CLASP, Restaurant Opportunities Centers United (ROC) and Family Values @ Work for a national audio conference on Feb. 14 from 2:45-4 p.m. ET.
Valentine's Day is the busiest day of the year for restaurants, and on Valentine's Day 2011 Congresswoman Edwards will announce the WAGE Act, the historic bill to address the inequality created by freezing the tipped minimum wage for workers 20 years ago. ROC will also release three reports on the restaurant industries in Washington, D.C., Miami and L.A. We invite you to join this audio conference for a special announcement on the WAGE Act at 2:45 p.m., followed by a discussion of the ROC reports' key findings, what they mean for state-level advocacy, and how this research can be used to spark dialogue with restaurant owners across the country.
Speakers will include:
- Congresswoman Donna Edwards (D-MD)
- Saru Jayaraman, Co-Director of Restaurant Opportunities United Centers
- Ellen Bravo, Executive Director of Family Values @ Work - A Multi-State Consortium
- Jason Michaud, Local Restaurant in Silver Lake, California
