UI Benefits Create Jobs

Unemployment Insurance benefits are one of the most efficient ways to stimulate the economy, as recipients rapidly spend their benefits, helping businesses.  A new report from the Council of Economic Advisers found that without federal extended benefits, the country would have had 800,000 fewer jobs and the gross domestic product (GDP) would have been 0.8 percent lower as of September 2010.
