The Effects of the EITC on Poverty
In 2011, the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) lifted 5.7 million people out of poverty, including 3.1 million children. The Earned Income Tax Credit, combined with the Child Tax Credit, lifted an estimated 8.7 million people out of poverty. Overall, 27 million families benefited from the EITC in 2011.
