Deeply poor families still earn too much for TANF

In July 2011, in more than half the states, a family with earnings at 50% of the Federal Poverty Level earned too much to qualify for cash assistance under TANF.

2011 FPL was $18,530 for a family of three in all states, except for Alaska ($23,160) and Hawaii ($21,320).
