Deeply poor families still earn too much for TANF

In July 2014, in more than half the states, a family with earnings at 50% of the Federal Poverty Level earned too much to qualify for cash assistance under TANF.

2014 FPL  for a family of three was $19,790 in the continguous states and D.C. In Alaska and Hawaii, the 2014 FPL was $24,740 and $22,760, respectively.
