State Policy Documentation Project

Thank you for your interest in the State Policy Documentation Project (SPDP).

The State Policy Documentation Project (SPDP)-a joint project of the Center for Law and Social Policy and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities-tracked policy choices on Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) cash assistance programs and Medicaid in the 50 states and the District of Columbia from 1998 to 2000. This project ended in 2000 and has not been updated since.

For current information on state TANF policies, please visit the Urban Institute's Welfare Rules Database.

For our current work on the TANF program, please visit CLASP's Temporary Assistance page or CBPP's Welfare Reform/TANF page.

If you are a researcher and interested in obtaining the tables on state policy choices in 1999, please contact us.
