CLASP Contributes to National Conversation on Workforce Innovation

Mar 16, 2012

Over the last couple weeks, CLASP participated in a discussion series on the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Emergency Fund on the Workforce Innovation Forum. The Innovation Forum was established by the Departments of Labor, Education, and Health and Human Services last September to create a space to foster rich communication and share novel ideas about workforce issues.

Subsidized employment programs are an effective way to spur employment for low-income families that are struggling during hard economic times, and the experience of the TANF Emergency Fund demonstrates that states that are provided with the funds and the flexibility to design their own programs will achieve impressive results.

Throughout the series CLASP provided commentary on the successes of the TANF Emergency Fund, lessons learned, and the future of subsidized employment programs.
