TANF Benefits Are Less Than 50 % of Poverty Line

In every state except for Alaska, the maximum TANF benefit for a family of three in 2008 was less than half of the federal poverty line.  Twenty states had benefit levels below 25 percent of the federal poverty line. -- Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.
