Senior Policy Analyst, Income & Work Supports Policy Expertise Supplemental Security Income, immigrants and refugees, low-income communities

Helly Lee is a senior policy analyst with the income & work supports team at CLASP. Ms. Lee’s focus is on access to income and work support programs, including income support, nutritional assistance, health care and refundable tax credits.  Prior to joining CLASP, Ms. Lee worked for the Southeast Asia Resource Action Center as their director of policy where she was a strong advocate for low-income refugee communities and led a policy team focusing on health, k-12 education, aging, economic development and immigration policies.

Her prior experiences also include having worked in a congressional office and she has an extensive direct service background in child welfare and juvenile justice. Ms. Lee formerly served as vice-chair on the board of directors for Legacies of War, a national non-profit, advocacy organization. She received her Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from the University of St. Thomas.
